1. First you need to know how billing process run :
In Every house we have Electrical meters which tells us in every
month how much electricity we consume in KWH or Unit price. But barely
people know about it , so sometime lineman can trick you and can con
you for money so you should be careful about it ,before installing a sub
meter in your house check for the quality of the Energy meters from
good company. Meter can be Digital or Analog, please buy Digital, it
will save a lot of things.....But just don't rely on everything on
machines do something on your own , you must know how to
calculate billing with pen.....

Calculation of Energy is very easy , you need to know few steps
i)
Find out how many Electrical Equipment is in the house and sort them
with their power consumption rating, example : if you have CFL
lights 30W and 1 Electric fan 70W and a TV 150W
Sort them a) Lights ---- 30W
b) Fan -------70W
c) TV---------150W
Now Calculate the time each appliance daily needs then multiply it with Watt.
a) Lights ---- 30W x 8 hours (Let assume Lights on for 8 hours)
b) Fan -------- 70W x 10 hours (Let assume Fan on for 10 hours)
c) TV---------150W x 6 hours (Let assume TV on for 6 hours)
Now
Sum all (W x hour) = ( 240 Wh + 700 Wh + 900 Wh) = 1840 Wh =
(1840/1000) KWh = 1.84 KWh = 1.84 Unit of Electricity Consumption on
Daily basis.
But Bill calculation is done in month , so multiply with 30 = (1.84 Unit x 30 xTariff)

to DPDC tariff rate , Total Bill = (1.84 Unit x 30 x 3.8Tk)+10Tk(
Service charge) + 15 tk (demand charge)..................
.Total Bill = 234.76Tk (Ans)
3 of the equipment costing about 235 Tk which is really too much, then how you can control billing if there are more than 10 equipment including refrigerator, AC, or Cooker.
Yo have to be smart when buying Electrical appliances, you have to concern about the power ratings of Electrical appliances, make sure they are not more than 50W, but definitely few of them will be over 500W like Cooker, blender, or Freezer but we can control their using time. Find out the appliances you use the most and then sort them out, example if a house need 10 light bulbs then choose all of them in LEDs or CFLs, don't Even think about Incandescent light as though they are cheap, it will cost you in future.Instead you choose two 9W LED lights for one room. Choose very low power consuming Table fans or Hanging Fans. They are cheap but low power consuming electric fans , if you need a ceiling fan make sure it is below 70W. and for media case choose LED TVs because they consume less power like (25~50W).
Let reconsider the 235Tk Bill condition,
Replace them with 2 LED(9W) Lights , a 50W Table Fan and 25W LED TV,
Calculation : Units = ((2x 9W) x 8hours + 50W x10 hours + 25W x 6 hours)/1000 =0.79KWh /Unit
Total Bill = (0.79 x30(days) x 3.8Tk)+10Tk(Service)+15(Demand) = 115.5 Tk < 235 Tk
Almost half of the Electric Bill is reduced by choosing wisely which is a beauty of modern technology....
